Student Mobility for Studies

How to apply?

The interested student should apply to the international office and/or Erasmus+ office of Medical University - Pleven (room 205 on the second floor at Main university building). The office will inform him or her of the possibilities of studying abroad as well as the modalities to apply and to receive an Erasmus+ EU grant.

The mobility is carried out in the framework of prior “inter-institutional agreements” between the MU-Pleven and receiving institution, both of which must be holders of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.

Students can go abroad for 3 to 12 months (including a complementary traineeship period, if planned). The same student may receive grants for studying or being trained abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per each cycle of study:

  • During the first study cycle (Bachelor or equivalent) including the short-cycle (EQF levels 5 and 6)
  • During the second study cycle (Master or equivalent – EQF level 7) and
  • During the third cycle as doctoral candidate (Doctoral level or EQF level 8)

Erasmus students are selected by Erasmus+ committee in a fair and transparent way.

What are the conditions?

Students must be registered in a higher education institution and enrolled in studies leading to a recognized degree or other recognized tertiary level qualification (up to and including the level of doctorate). In case of mobility for studies, the students must be enrolled at least in the second year of higher education studies. For traineeships, this condition does not apply.

Recent higher education graduates may participate in traineeships.

The mobility is carried out in the framework of prior “inter-institutional agreements” between the sending and receiving institutions, both of which must be holders of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (if located in a Programme country).

Student must have an average grade of study until the application no less than Very good (4.50) and good command of the language of study at host institution.

Students must carry out their mobility activity in a Programme Country different from the country of the sending organization and country of residence.

What forms the applicants must provide?

-          An official note from Students` office certifying the avarage grade;

-          CV (on English)

-          Motivation letter (on English)

-          Application form (Sample)

 

The applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Good academic record;
  • Excellent language skills;
  • Motivation

 

The application is reviewed by an Erasmus committee.The student with the highest over-all score is ranked first, and so on.  The applicant with the highest score will be awarded their first ranked location. The applicant with the second-highest score will be awarded their top-ranked location, if available. If it is not available, then the second ranked location is offered, and so on until all of the locations are filled. Students not selected will be placed on a waiting list.

What arrangements are made?

Prior to the departure the Erasmus+ student is provided with:

A grant agreement covering the mobility period and signed between the student and the official representative of MU- Pleven;

A “Learning Agreement” setting out the programme of studies to be followed, as approved by the student, the sending and the receiving institution;

The “Erasmus+ Student Charter” setting out the student’s rights and obligations with respect to his/her period of study abroad.

 

At the end of the period abroad:

The receiving institution must provide the student and MU – Pleven with a transcript of records confirming that the agreed programme has been completed and confirming the results. At the end of the stay, the student must obtain confirmation of his/her stay from the host university, using the ERASMUS certificate of attendance form. Within 10 days after his/her departure student must submit these documents to the Erasmus Office at MU-Pleven along with travel documents confirming the period of the stay such as tickets, boarding cards, passport.

Student Mobility for Traineeships

How to apply?

Students may go abroad from 2 to 12 months. The same student may receive grants for studying or being trained abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per cycle of study.

At the end of the period abroad:

The receiving institution must provide the student and MU – Pleven with a Traineeship certificate confirming that the agreed programme has been completed and confirming the results. At the end of the stay, the student must obtain confirmation of his/her stay from the host university, using the ERASMUS certificate of attendance form. Within 10 days after his/her departure student must submit these documents to the Erasmus Office at MU-Pleven along with travel documents confirming the period of the stay such as tickets, boarding cards, passport.

For a traineeship which is an integral part of the curriculum, Medical University –Pleven give full academic recognition for the period spent abroad, by using ECTS credits or an equivalent system. Recognition shall be based on the Learning Agreement approved by all parties before the period of mobility starts;

In the particular case of a traineeship that is not part of the curriculum of the student, MU -Pleven provide recognition by recording this period in the Diploma Supplement or, in the case of recent graduates, by providing a traineeship certificate.
