Today Medical University – Pleven solemnly opened its 52nd academic year. Over 600 freshmen crossed the university threshold to embark on the path to their professional development in medicine, pharmacy, public health, healthcare, and veterinary medicine.
The festive ceremony, hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sonya Valkova – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at MU-Pleven, brought together the academic community, students, faculty, parents, and official guests.
The Rector, Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, welcomed the freshmen into the academic family of MU-Pleven with the words: “Dear young colleagues,
Years ago, I stood in your place – with more questions than answers, and without knowing where medicine would take me. That is why today I can tell you one thing: do not be afraid of difficult moments. They are precisely what most often shows us how far we can reach. You are starting your university education at a time that poses huge challenges to medicine, but at the same time opens up opportunities unthinkable until a few decades ago. Digitalization, artificial intelligence, robotics, and telecommunications are changing education, medicine, and healthcare. And you will be the generation to turn these technologies into real solutions for patients. May your university years be a time of knowledge, friendships, discoveries, and personal growth for you.”
Among the official guests at the celebration were Members of Parliament Prof. Dr. T. Totev, Valeri Lachovski, Antonio Vasilev, Lorin Lorinkov, and Ivan Vachev, the Governor of Pleven Region Ivan Petkov, the Mayor of Pleven Municipality Dr. Valentin Hristov, the Chairman of the Pleven Municipal Council Assoc.
