The Rector of Medical University – Pleven (MU-Pleven), Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, and the Director of IBIR–BAS, Corresponding Member Prof. Dr. Soren Hayrabedyan, D.B.Sc., signed an agreement for joint activities on March 6, 2025. The agreement is the fourth in a row between the two institutions and is being renewed with the assistance of the Regional Academic Center – Pleven.
The cooperation will be realized in the joint implementation of research, development and educational-and-teaching activities in the following areas: scientific research; training of specialists - supervision of graduate and doctoral students; organizing and conducting scientific forums; participation in joint projects with the EU, the MES and other organizations, as well as operational programs; conducting consultations and expert assessments.
"Acad. Kiril Bratanov" Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction is the ninth scientific institute at the BAS with which MU-Pleven concludes an agreement for joint activities after the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering; the Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology; "St. Apostle and Gospeller Matthew" Institute of Robotics; the Institute for Population and Human Studies; the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the BAS; "Acad. Emil Dzhakov" Institute of Electronics at the BAS; the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (IMI) at the BAS and the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry.
The Medical University and the city of Pleven have become one of the first Regional Academic Centers of the BAS, as a result of the large-scale initiative to create a National Academic Network in the country. The goal is to support scientific activity and implement scientific research in practice.
As a result of the joint project activity with the scientific institutes of the BAS and Medical University - Pleven, scientific publications have been carried out in prestigious journals, refereed and indexed in world-renowned databases of scientific information, with a high IF (Impact Factor), classified in Q1 - Q3 (in which the Scopus database groups scientific journals depending on their rank (SCImago Journal Rank - SJR)), and annual joint scientific forums are held.
