Department of Anatomy, Histology and Cytology

The Department of “Anatomy, Histology and Cytology” is the most essential as well as the largest preclinical Department of Medical University – Pleven. It was founded in 1975, when the courses in macroscopic and microscopic anatomy were merged.

In 2008 Department “Anatomy, Histology and Cytology” and Department of “Medical Biology” were united in one Department “Anatomy, Histology, Cytology and Biology” with two sectors.

Division of Biology

The Division of Biology was founded in 1974. Between 1999 and 2008 it was a part of the Department of General Biology and Pathophysiology. Since 2008, the department has been a part of the Department of Anatomy, Histology, Cytology and Biology. Prof. Milena Atanasova, PhD has been the Head of the Biology division since 2011.
