Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was established in 1974 and is structured in two sections:

• Chemistry
• Biochemistry

The scientific and teaching staff of the sector includes a professor, two associate professors, two main assistants, two assistants and four lecturers. Six of the teachers have obtained a second major in "Theoretical foundations of Medicinal Chemistry"

The academic pursuit of Medical Biochemistry is focused into two semesters and gives the students important knowledge about the chemical mechanism of biological processes and their regulation as part of the human organism.
